Switch Assembly, Stop Lamp

The stop light switch installation begins with adding a new stop light switch mounting adjuster to the pedal support. You should position the stop light switch on the adjuster while it makes a faint contact with the brake pedal without pressing down on it. To secure the stop light switch turn it clockwise by a quarter turn while ensuring that no force is applied to the brake pedal and use 1.5 Nm (15 kgf-cm, 13 in-lbf) of torque. Verify that the stop light switch has a range of 1.5 to 2.5 mm (0.0590 to 0.0984 in.) clearance after finishing the installation. Complete the procedure by attaching the clamp from the wire harness to the pedal support then linking the connector to the stop light switch.

The first step for stop light switch installation requires you to mount the stop light switch mounting adjuster onto the pedal support. After securing the stop light switch to its adjuster position it should lightly touch the brake pedal when at its resting state. The stop light switch needs to be tightened clockwise at a torque of 1.5 Nm (15 kgf-cm, 13 in-lbf) while avoiding contact with the brake pedal. When finished with installation confirm that the stop light switch clearance measures between 1.5 to 2.5 mm (0.0590 to 0.0984 in.) then complete the connection of the connector at the switch end.

Take out the No. 1 instrument panel sub-assembly.

Install a new stop light switch mounting adjuster to the pedal support.

Finally, remove the stop light switch assembly.

Turn the stop light switch counterclockwise to remove it.

Make a quarter turn clockwise to secure the stop light switch assembly with a torque of 1.5 Nm (15 kgf-cm, 13 in-lbf) or less.

Remove the stop light switch mounting adjuster.

Apply a torque of 1.5 Nm (15 kgf-cm, 13 in-lbf).

First, disconnect the connector.
