The first step for steering angle sensor replacement is to follow air bag systems service precautions and disconnect the battery negative terminal. The wheel alignment should be front-facing before beginning the disassembly process which includes the horn button and steering wheel assemblies as well as column cover and spiral cable subsystems. Follow the correct procedure for positioning the four claw fittings until you can remove the steering sensor from the spiral cable. Afterwards, install the new steering sensor onto the spiral cable by properly securing the claw to prevent damage to the components. Set the center front wheel into position before replacing both the spiral cable sub-assembly and centering the spiral cable. Afterward reassemble the steering wheel assembly while also adjusting the steering wheel center point before adding the horn button assembly. Complete an inspection of both the horn button assembly and SRS warning light before executing VSC system calibration. The ABS warning light and VSC warning light should be checked during testing and inspection of both antilock brakes and traction control systems.

Install the new steering sensor onto the spiral cable, ensuring the claw is securely installed without damage.
