Read all safety guidelines first before starting Air Bag Control Module service. Turn off the negative battery cable and let it rest for 90 seconds to keep Air Bags from deploying. First take off the No. 1 and No. 2 instrument cluster finish panel garnishes and also remove the shift lever knob sub-assembly together with the floor shift position indicator housing sub-assembly and the upper console rear panel sub-assembly. Start by taking away both front door scuff plates (left and right) and the cowl side trim panel units (left and right) as well as the instrument panel No. 2 under cover part and the lower instrument panel piece. Take out the console box pocket, carpet, and assembly before moving to the upper console panel sub-part. Take off both console box insert fronts at their normal positions and disconnect the No. 1 console box duct. lt is important to turn the carpet back to reach the center Air Bag sensor holder which connects to the assembly. Carefully disconnect the holder while guarding the Air Bag wire harness and eliminate the three holding bolts.
