    Q:
How to replace the Seat Position Air Bag Sensor for the bench seat type on Toyota Tacoma? Posted by Customer
    A:
Prior to replacing the Seat Position Air Bag Sensor on a bench seat type you must follow the necessary safety precautions related to Air Bag systems. Let the negative battery cable disconnect while the system waits at least 90 seconds to avoid the Air Bag deployment. Disconnect the connector which connects to the seat position Air Bag sensor after disconnecting the seat assembly unit. A torx(R) socket wrench (T30) can be used to uninstall the torx(R) screw and sensor together. All installation steps involving the new seat position Air Bag sensor must begin with an OFF ignition switch and disconnected negative battery cable that remains disconnected for at least 90 seconds. Install connectors when the sensor assembly is present according to the specified torque requirements and make sure the sensor assembly stays unharmed during this process. Prior to screw the torx(R) screw use 8.0 N.m (82 kgf.cm, 71 in.lbf) of torque while verifying no material slack exists for a sensor-seat rail clearance between 0.6mm (0.023 in.) and 2 mm (0.079 in.). The cable connection to the negative battery terminal requires a torque of 3.9 N.m (40 kgf.cm, 35 in.lbf) and the SRS warning light inspection should be performed at that time.

    Q:
How to service and repair the Air Bag Sensor Assembly Center on Toyota Tacoma? Posted by Customer
    A:
The first step for servicing and repairing the Air Bag Sensor Assembly Center requires following established safety procedures for Air Bag systems. The technician should disconnect the negative end of the battery cable for a minimum duration of 90 seconds to stop Air Bag triggering. The service begins by removing the Console Upper Rear Panel Sub-Assembly and Console Box Assembly Rear according to automatic and manual transmission and separate seat types. You should remove the Instrument Panel Cup Holder Tray along with the Console Box Front beginning from transmission types followed by seat configurations. Next disconnect the holder with connectors from the Air Bag Sensor Assembly Center while unscrewing its three bolts. Check for any sign of damage on the Air Bag Sensor Assembly Center. After disconnecting the battery cable and switching off the ignition start the sensor installation procedure by attaching the 3 bolts provisionally and torquing each one to 17.5 N.m (179 kgf.cm, 13 ft.lbf). The holder should always have connectors tightly reattached while inspecting that the waterproof sheet is in its proper position. The Console Box Front should be reinstalled for both transmission types with separate and bench seats while moving on to install the Instrument Panel Cup Holder Tray and Console Box Assembly Rear. Finally the Console Upper Rear Panel Sub-Assembly must be installed for manual and automatic transmission types followed by battery terminal cable reconnection with 3.9 N.m (40 kgf.cm, 35 in.lbf) torque before SRS warning light verification.
