Installation of the heated oxygen sensor to the frontal exhaust pipe of the 2ZR-FE engine control system requires Special Service Tool: 09224-00010 to be used for sensor attachment. The torque requirement is 40 Nm (408 kgf-cm, 30 ft-lbf) when using the tool or as 44 Nm (449 kgf-cm, 32 ft-lbf) when not using the tool. The installation requires a torque wrench featuring a 300 mm (11.81 in.) fulcrum length together with a 30 mm (1.18 in.) tool dimension for parallel installation with the wrench. After installing the wire harness clamp bracket users should attach the clamp followed by passing the sensor connector through the floor panel to install the grommet and connect the heated oxygen sensor connector. Perform a check to determine whether any exhaust gas leaks exist.

When installing the heated oxygen sensor for the 4WD 2AZ-FE engine control the application of Special Service Tool: 09224-00010 leads to a torque setting of 40 Nm (408 kgf-cm, 30 ft-lbf) or 44 Nm (449 kgf-cm, 32 ft-lbf) when used without the tool. You need a torque wrench with a 300 mm (11.8 in.) fulcrum to reach the necessary 40 Nm (408 kgf-cm, 30 ft-lbf) torque value while using the 30 mm (1.18 in.) Special Service Tool which should be perpendicular to the torque wrench. Connect the heated oxygen sensor connector along with the wire harness grommet after this step. Perform the 2WD installation while using Special Service Tool: 09224-00010 with the same torque requirements. Exhaust gas leaks should be inspected as the last step.

Next, remove the grommet and pull the sensor connector out of the cabin through the floor panel.

Remove the No. 1 exhaust manifold heat insulator by taking out the 4 bolts.
