The service and repair of the cylinder head gasket on the 2009 Toyota Truck Landcruiser V8-5.7L (3UR-FE) requires particular materials alongside detailed instructions. The first step to replace the cylinder head gasket in a 2UZ-FE engine requires users to disconnect the battery cable from the negative terminal before waiting at least 90 seconds to disable SRS system functionality. Muster the front wiper arm assemblies containing blades from both right and left sides after which you should remove front fender to cowl side seals on both sides. First, extract the combination of cowl top ventilator louver sub-assembly and front wiper motor and link assembly and outer cowl top panel sub-assembly. You must begin drainage of engine coolant while working on the No. 1 engine under cover. The installer must first remove the front exhaust pipe assembly together with the front No. 2 exhaust pipe assembly. The mechanic should start by removing the camshaft then disconnect the vacuum hose assembly followed by removing the No. 3 water by-pass pipe. Beginning with the EFI fuel pipe clamp separation and following with the No. 1 and No. 2 fuel pipe sub-assembly removal leads to eventual intake manifold and inlet water housing extraction. The front water by-pass joint requires removing its 4 nuts before extracting the joint and 2 gaskets, which leads to the water by-pass pipe sub-assembly disassembly through bolt and O-ring removal. Unplug the air hose while taking out the 4 nuts that secure the rear water by-pass joint and separating all its gaskets. Obtain valve lifters and shims from the cylinder head and organize them according to their sequence. Bank 1 requires a uniform loosening process of its 10 cylinder head bolts through the specified sequence followed by removal of bolts and plate washers until a careful cylinder head removal occurs without surface damage. Repeat the procedure by maintaining valve lifter protection and bolt removal order for Bank 2. Complete the procedure by taking away the cylinder head gasket.

Disconnect the cable from the negative battery terminal and wait at least 90 seconds to disable the SRS system.

Ensure no oil is on the mounting surface and apply a light coat of engine oil to the threads and under the heads of the cylinder head bolts.

Disconnect the air hose and remove the rear water by-pass joint, then remove the valve lifters and shims from the cylinder head, arranging them in the correct order.

Install the oil strainer sub-assembly, and No. 2 oil pan sub-assembly, followed by the cylinder head cover sub-assemblies RH and LH, and the engine oil level dipstick guide.

Take out the ignition coil assembly, spark plug, VVT sensor, and camshaft timing oil control valve assembly.

Remove the cylinder head sub-assembly by uniformly loosening the 8 cylinder head bolts in the correct order, lifting the cylinder head from the dowels on the cylinder block, and placing it on wooden blocks, taking care not to damage the contact surfaces.

Remove the front crankshaft oil seal.
