The front wheel removal procedure serves as the initial step when changing the 2WD front axle hub. The front speed sensor must be separated through the application of a hexagon wrench to disconnect two clamps and extract the bolt releasing the speed sensor wire harness from the steering knuckle. You can start by taking off the front disc brake caliper assembly through this process: disconnect the bolt holding the brake tube bracket to the steering knuckle before using a union nut wrench to remove the brake tube from the caliper assembly and afterward removing its 2 securing bolts. Proceed to remove the front disc while separating the front stabilizer link assembly through nut removal; however if the ball joint turns with the nut then use a hexagon (6 mm) wrench to hold the stud in place. Uninstall the sub-assembly of tie rod ends by extracting both the cotter pin and nut before using Special Service Tool: 09628-62011 for disconnecting the steering knuckle. To proceed with separating the No. 1 front suspension arm sub-assembly lower disconnect the 2 bolts which secure the front lower ball joint attachment to the front axle. The front suspension upper arm assembly can be detached by taking away the clip and nut followed by applying Special Service Tool: 09628-62011 to break the upper arm assembly free from the steering knuckle. A plastic hammer must be used during 4WD drive type removal to split the front axle hub from the front drive shaft so that the front axle hub sub-assembly can be taken out.

Begin front axle hub removal by first disconnecting the negative battery cable then taking away the wheel from the front of the vehicle. Start by draining the brake fluid before cleaning the paint surfaces with immediately applied rinsing liquid. Use Special Service Tool: 09023-00101 to disconnect the brake tube from the disc brake cylinder by using the casting hole. Collect the draining brake fluid in a container during the process. The first operation requires the front disc brake caliper assembly bolt to be detached followed by brake tube bracket separation from the steering knuckle. The disc brake caliper assembly requires two bolt removal before proceeding to remove the front disc. Merely separate the front speed sensor and remove both the front axle hub grease cap and front wheel drive system nut followed by detaching the front stabilizer link assembly. The technician should disconnect the tie rod end sub-assembly and front lower ball joint attachment sequence. A jack should stabilize the lower arm while the clip and nut are unbolted before utilizing Special Service Tool: 09628-62011 to disconnect the upper ball joint from the steering knuckle. Using a plastic hammer on 4WD models will accomplish two tasks: front drive shaft separation from the front axle hub followed by front axle assembly removal.

Install a new hub assembly for a 2WD vehicle by putting in the front suspension upper arm assembly that requires a new nut torqued to 110 Nm (1,122 kgf-cm, 81 ft-lbf) and secure it with a new cotter pin. Next add the No. 1 front suspension arm sub-assembly lower into place using two bolts which should be tightened to 160 Nm (1,630 kgf-cm, 118 ft-lbf). The installation process begins with nutting the tie rod end sub-assembly before torquing it to 91 Nm (928 kgf-cm, 67 ft-lbf) and securing it with a new cotter pin. Apply a nut to the steering knuckle for the front stabilizer link assembly then tighten it to 70 Nm (714 kgf-cm, 52 ft-lbf) by using a hexagon (6 mm) wrench on the stud in case the ball joint turns with the nut. The installation sequence begins with front disc assembly and front disc brake caliper assembly bolts which should be torqued to 123 Nm (1,254 kgf-cm, 91 ft-lbf). Backward from front disc installation comes the brake tube bracket attachment to steering knuckle with a bolt torqued to 29 Nm (296 kgf-cm, 21 ft-lbf). Finishing steps include connecting the brake tube with a union nut wrench torqued to 15 Nm (155 kgf-cm, 11 ft-lbf). You can install the front speed sensor through bolt attachment of the speed sensor wire harness to the steering knuckle at 13 Nm (133 kgf-cm, 10 ft-lbf) torque followed by clip connection and hexagon wrench usage for bolt installation at 8.3 Nm (85 kgf-cm, 73 in-lbf) torque. Installation includes bleaching the brake line followed by reservoir fluid inspection along with leak checking the brake fluid before front wheel installation at 112 Nm (1,142 kgf-cm, 83 ft-lbf) torque. The last procedure includes a check of both front wheel alignment settings and ABS speed sensor signal assessment.

Use a plastic hammer to detach it from the front drive shaft and remove the front axle hub sub-assembly LH.

Remove the knuckle grease retainer cap inner with a screwdriver and hammer, unstake the front wheel adjusting nut with Special Service Tool: 09930-00010 and a hammer, and then use Special Service Tool: 09318-12010 to remove the adjusting nut.

Use Special Service Tool: 09318-12010, torquing it to 275 N*m (2,804 kgf*cm, 203 ft.*lbf).
