    Q:
How to Service and Repair a Wheel Hub on Toyota Tacoma? Posted by Customer
    A:
Service of the wheel hub begins with cleaning both bearings and races before you examine them for signs of wear or damage. Service Tool 09527-17011 combined with a brass bar and a hammer should be used to remove bearing outer races while securing the ABS speed sensor rotor from harm. The reassembly requires a press to install a new inside bearing outer race using Special Service Tool: 09527-17011 together with 09950-60010 (09951-00640) and 09950-70010 (09951-07150). Subsequently, a new outside bearing race installation follows using Special Service Tool: 09527-17011 with 09950-60010 (09951-00490) and 09950-70010 (09951-07150) while paying attention to avoid damaging the ABS speed sensor rotor.

    Q:
How to Service and Repair the Wheel Hub on Toyota Tacoma? Posted by Customer
    A:
Service and repair of the wheel hub requires beginning with front wheel removal using 110 Nm torque (1,150 kgf-cm, 83 ft. lbs.). Next, remove the shock absorber. The service and repair of drive shafts on 4WD models requires users to remove the grease cap with a screwdriver followed by extraction of the cotter pin and lock cap. The nut should receive a tighter torque force of 60 degrees when applying it to misaligned cotter pin holes. People can unlatch the lock nut while holding the brakes steady during removal as the torque requirement is set at 235 Nm (2,400 kgf-cm, 174 ft. lbs.). The installation of 2 ABS speed sensor and wire harness clamp bolts requires 8.0 Nm torque (82 kgf-cm, 71 inch lbs) to disconnect them from the steering knuckle. Begin the brake caliper and disc removal by first removing the union bolt and two gaskets from the caliper and unfastening the flexible hose using a torque of 30 Nm (310 kgf-cm, 22 ft. lbs.). During reassembly always secure the flexible hose lock inside the caliper. Brake caliper installation requires support under it while you loosen these 2 bolts with 123 Nm (1,250 kgf-cm, 90 ft. lbs.) torque force. The disconnect method for the lower ball joint requires removing four bolts with a torque setting of 80 Nm (820 kgf-cm, 59 ft. lbs.). Before installing the steering knuckle begin by removing the cotter pin followed by softening the nut with 105 Nm (1,100 kgf-cm and 80 ft. lbs.) torque and keep the cotter pin holes aligned. The removal of the steering knuckle requires the special service tool 09950-40011 (09951-04010, 09952-04010, 09553-04020, 09554-04010, 09955-04031, 09958-04011) to detach it properly. After disconnection, remove the nut and steering knuckle while carefully protecting the oil seal and drive shaft boot for 4WD models. A plastic hammer should be used to tap the difficult-to-unfasten drive shaft tip. After installation the technician must bleed the brake system followed by checking front wheel alignment and confirming the ABS speed sensor signal. Installation steps proceed in the opposite sequence of removal procedures.
