    Q:
How to remove the Turn Signal Flasher on Toyota Highlander? Posted by Customer
    A:
The Turn Signal Flasher removal starts with positioning the front wheels straight ahead and disconnecting the negative battery cable for 90 seconds to avoid triggering Air Bags. The cable reconnect procedure might need system initialization in certain cases. Remove the lower steering wheel cover No. 3 then remove No. 2 cover and finally the steering pad. The first task requires steering wheel assembly removal plus removal of the steering column cover. First detach the turn signal switch assembly with attached spiral cable sub-assembly before extracting the instrument cluster finish panel assembly and combination meter assembly and center instrument panel register assembly. The technician should first remove both center instrument cluster finish panel assemblies only when working on Smart Key and non-Smart Key systems before continuing to the heater control accessory assembly for manual air conditioning or the air conditioning control assembly for automatic systems. The next operation requires bracket removal of radio receiver assemblies for non-navigation systems while navigation systems need navigation receiver assemblies along with their brackets. The team will detach both left and right front door scuff plates together with cowl side trim sub-assemblies followed by removal of the manual and automatic air conditioning system lower instrument panel finish panel sub-assembly. The procedure continues with removal of both upper console panel sub-assembly together with lower rear console box and console box assembly across all equipment configurations. The front No. 1 and No. 2 console box inserts need removal followed by an engine switch demount when vehicles use Smart Key system technology. You must disconnect the front door opening trim Weather Strip while removing the front pillar garnish from both sides of the vehicle. The first step involves removing the No. 1 instrument panel speaker panel sub-assembly, front No. 2 speaker assembly for the left side, and the No. 2 instrument panel speaker panel sub-assembly before proceeding to detach the front No. 2 speaker assembly for the right side. The instrument panel wire assembly needs disconnecting and the instrument panel safety pad assembly needs removal when working on pole antenna and glass antenna configurations. The instrument panel junction block assembly disconnection starts with removing the three nuts then removing the power steering ECU assembly after disengaging the claw and turning off the turn signal flasher assembly to finish the removal process.
