Water Pump

A service or repair of the water pump starts with draining engine coolant and removing the drive belt. The technician should start by unbolting the six fasteners that secure the water pump then remove it together with the gasket and clean the water chamber room of any engine coolant residue. The replacement of only the water pump demands that the RH engine mounting bracket and generator should stay intact. A visual examination of the water pump drain hole should be performed to check for coolant leaks but replacement of the pump is required if any leakage occurs. You need to install a new O-ring on top of the timing chain cover first before you tighten down the water pump by using the 6 bolts while applying 9 Nm of torque to Bolt A and 11 Nm of torque to Bolt B. Each bolt length is specified in the provided illustration. The procedure requires reinstalling the drive belt while you add engine coolant to the system and activate the engine to find leaks before final engine coolant inspection.

Visually check the drain hole for coolant leakage; if leakage is found, replace the water pump.

Use the special tool to remove the 4 water pump pulley set bolts, then remove the water pump pulley, followed by the 6 bolts, water pump, and O-ring, and clean the engine coolant from the water chamber room.

Reinstall the drive belt, fill the system with engine coolant, start the engine, and check for leaks, then recheck the engine coolant level.

Remove the drive belt.
