Front Pipe

The first step for servicing or repairing the 1ZZ-FE exhaust pipe requires disconnecting the negative battery terminal. The service process requires you to first disconnect the heated oxygen sensor at the connector by using a clip remover to peel off the front floor carpet and connector grommet. Special Service Tool: 09224-00010 allows the successful removal of the heated oxygen sensor. The tail pipe assembly removal process begins with taking out two bolts and two springs. Proceed to remove the floor panel brace front by unfastening the 2 nuts. Complete the removal by taking out the exhaust pipe assembly front.

Tighten the 2 compression springs and 2 bolts to a torque of 43 Nm (440 kgf-cm, 32 ft. lbs.).

Avoid pushing the gasket into the manifold while installing the exhaust pipe front onto the 2 exhaust pipe supports No. 4.

Install a new gasket onto the exhaust pipe front, ensuring correct installation and not reusing the old gasket. Attach the exhaust pipe tail onto the 3 exhaust pipe supports No. 4 and tighten the 2 compression springs and 2 bolts to a torque of 43 Nm (440 kgf-cm, 32 ft. lbs.).

Install with a bolt at a torque of 32 Nm (330 kgf-cm, 24 ft. lbs.).

Install a new gasket onto the exhaust pipe front, attach the exhaust pipe tail onto the 3 exhaust pipe supports No. 4, then tighten the 2 compression springs and 2 bolts to a torque of 43 N*m (440 kgf*cm, 32 ft.*lbf).

Check the free length of the compression spring using vernier calipers; it should be at least 41.5 mm (1.6339 in.). If it is less, replace the spring.

Ensure the gasket is installed flush with the exhaust manifold, in the correct direction, and do not reuse the old gasket.
