The battery cable must disconnect from the negative terminal as the first step for Crankshaft Position Sensor service. The right-hand side of the engine under cover needs removal after which you should disconnect the crankshaft position sensor connector while removing the bolt to extract the crankshaft position sensor. First apply a thin coat of engine oil to the O-ring present on the crankshaft position sensor before installing it using a bolt which should have a torque setting of 7.5 Nm (76 kgf.cm, 66 in. lbs.) yet avoid twisting this O-ring. Reinstall the negative battery cable while tightening it to 5.4 Nm (55 kgf.cm, 48 in. lbs.), then plug in the crankshaft position sensor connector. As the last step verify the engine for oil leaks before refitting the right-side engine under cover.
