The service of Three-Way Catalytic Converter (TWC) System begins with vehicle jacking and converter cooling protocol. Begin by disconnecting the heated
Oxygen Sensor and carefully rotating the wire sensor counterclockwise 3 and 1/2 turns before installation. Additionally check that the wire remains untwisted after installation and re-install the oxygen sensor if necessary. Proceed by removing two bolts holding the
Exhaust Pipe stay which require torquing to 33 Nm (330 kg.cm, 24 ft.lb) before disconnecting the bracket through removal of its two bolts while maintaining the same torque specification. Remove two bolts along with two nuts holding the front exhaust pipe to the tailpipe with a torque of 56 Nm (570 kg.cm, 41 ft.lb) and four nuts securing the front exhaust pipe to the exhaust manifolds at 62 Nm (630 kg.cm, 46 ft.lb). The front exhaust pipe (converter) must come off together with its 3 gaskets before new gaskets can be used for replacement. The installation requires you to perform the opposite actions compared to uninstallation.
