To change the Engine Control Module (ECM), one must disconnect the battery, remove the glove compartment door and pull out the ECM by ripping off clips and connectors. Install the new ECM and brackets, reconnect and reinstall the glove compartment. Lastly, reconnect battery and VIN register.

The 2AZ-FE engine requires disconnection of the negative battery terminal to remove the Engine Control Module (ECM), then the engine cover, air cleaner cap, and case should be removed. Unscrew the ECM connectors and make them clean. Lastly, take out the three bolts and four screws that are holding the ECM and brackets.
