Toyota Corolla Steering Wheel Parts Questions & Experts Answers
Q: How to remove the steering wheel on Toyota Corolla?
A: The first step to remove the steering wheel involves turning front wheels parallel to the vehicle path then disconnecting the cable from the negative terminal while allowing a minimum of 90 seconds before resetting the SRS system. The technician should first remove the steering pad followed by the lower No. 2 then lower No. 3 steering wheel covers before continuing. Start the steering wheel removal process by unscrewing the set nut before marking the alignment between parts and detaching spiral cable connectors. Apply a small amount of grease to threads along with the tip of Special Service Tool (09953-05020) before utilization during this process. Special Service Tools 09950-50013, 09951-05010, 09952-05010, 09953-05020, and 09954-05021 are required for this procedure. First remove the steering pad switch LH if equipped from the system and then take off the No. 1 steering wheel ornament by unmounting the screw and unlocking 2 pins. Proceed to remove the steering pad switch assembly when the system has built-in microphone functionality followed by removing the cruise control main switch if installed. To complete the process remove the lower steering wheel boss cover by first unscrewing the two screws and then releasing the two claws before removing the two attachment screws associated with the lower steering wheel boss cover.
