A Center Console Latch is a small lock, which snaps closed to silence gear, but opens immediately when the button is released. In order to install a new Center Console Latch, park safely, unplug battery where there are outlets, open the lid and remove any tray exposing the mounting screws. Take out those screws, push the battered latch out of it, and disconnect the linkage rod. Install the replacement component, line holes and re-use the screws and clamp the rod in place such that the button is free to move. Press Center Console Latch multiple times, until the lid snaps in place and replace the trim, tighten all things and have a quiet secure console on your next ride.
