Q: How to remove and install the Steering Wheel and horn button assembly on Toyota Camry?
A:
A safe procedure for removing and installing the horn button starts with separating the negative terminal of the battery. The first step involves the removal of the steering wheel cover lower No.2 part which serves the 4 spoke steering wheel assembly or lower No.3 piece designed for the 3 spoke steering wheel assembly. Use a T30 torx socket wrench to unfasten the two torx screws until their screw circumference groove locks onto the screw casings before pulling out the wheel pad from the horn button assembly when the front wheels point straight ahead. The process to remove the horn button assembly for a 4 spoke steering wheel requires disconnecting both Air Bag connectors and the horn connector but the 3 spoke wheel requires disconnecting only the Air Bag connectors. When performing horn button assembly reinstallation you should connect the Air Bag and horn connectors before you ensure the screws' circumference groove catches the screw case followed by torx socket wrench (T30) screw installation at 8.8 N.m (90 kgf.cm, 78 in.lbf). Check the SRS warning light as the final step of the inspection process.
