The initial step for replacing or removing the Fuel Pressure Regulator on the 2AZ-FXE engine requires fuel system pressure discharge. The cable needs to detach from the negative battery terminal but extra system initialization steps might be needed when reattaching it. Start by removing the rear seat cushion assembly together with the rear floor service hole cover. Both the fuel pump connector and the vapor pressure sensor connector need to be disconnected ( 1) and ( 2). The fuel pump tube sub-assembly can be separated after removing the tube joint clip while pulling out the fuel pump tube. Prevent dirt from entering the fuel tube joint through proper protection with plastic bags during disconnection. Fuel tube joint and fuel suction plate resistance requires you to pinch the fuel tank tube while carefully turning it until removal. Remove the fuel tank vent tube set plate through its 8 bolts which leads to pulling out the fuel suction tube assembly containing the pump with gauge from the tank by ensuring the filter stays intact and avoiding sender gauge arm bending.
