2010 Scion tC Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to install the Clock Spring assembly on 2010 Scion tC?
A: Start the clock spring installation by setting the front wheels parallel to the vehicle direction while placing the turn signal switch in neutral position for safety reasons. Fitting the clock spring begins with removing the lock pin during new component replacement while then connecting the clock spring's connectors without harming the Air Bag wire harness. After mounting the steering column cover proceed with turning the clock spring counterclockwise by hand until it reaches the proper stiffness level but do not utilize the Air Bag wire harness during this operation. The clock spring should be turned clockwise by 2.5 complete revolutions to line up marks while it crosses the center by a total of 2.5 turns in both directions. First install the steering wheel assembly and the steering pad assembly before connecting the cable to the terminal with a negative charge on the battery. A steering pad assembly check should precede initialization steps since the systems need this step after disconnecting the cable between the negative (-) battery terminal. The last step involves checking the SRS warning light and performing an inspection of the steering wheel positioning.
