2009 Toyota Tacoma Cigarette Lighter Parts Q&A
Q: How to remove the cigarette lighter on 2009 Toyota Tacoma?
A: The initial step for removing the cigarette lighter involves unplugging the negative cable from the battery terminal. Begin the procedure by removing the instrument panel under tray that serves the pedal-type parking brake or the instrument panel hole cover that supports the lever-type parking brake. The process of removing the console upper rear panel sub-assembly starts by taking out the separate seat type assembly which has automatic transmission followed by the rear console box assembly. Removal of the console upper rear panel sub-assembly with front console box becomes necessary only when you have a separate seat type vehicle with manual transmission. Dismantle the front console box depending on the combination of automatic transmission with manual transmission or manual transmission with automatic transmission operating on a bench seat vehicle type. Then proceed with the removal of both the air conditioning control assembly together with the radio receiver assembly. The technician needs to separate hood lock control lever sub-assembly components before removing the No. 1 lower instrument panel finish panel and the instrument cluster finish panel sub-assembly with its center finish panel sub-assembly. Next in order to proceed remove both the lower instrument panel LH and the instrument lower cover sub-assembly. The completion of cigarette lighter removal requires first disengaging the two claws from the cover and secondly turning the socket counterclockwise to disconnect its claw from the cigarette lighter bezel stay while pushing the socket towards the room side for final withdrawal.
