2009 Toyota Tacoma A/C Condenser Parts Q&A

  • Q: How to remove the A/C Condenser on 2009 Toyota Tacoma?
A: Discharging refrigerant from the refrigeration system is the first step to remove the HVAC condenser before the negative battery cable needs to be disconnected. Engineering coolant should be drained from both 2TR-FE and 1GR-FE engine systems. Both engine types require the removal of the radiator grille and subsequent removal of the radiator support to frame seal LH. The next step is to disconnect the fan shroud and radiator assembly of each engine variety. The discharge hose sub-assembly requires removal of its bolt along with seal washer followed by use of vinyl tape to seal both ends before component removal. The procedure should be repeated when working with the air conditioning tube assembly. The procedure for removing the cooler condenser assembly consists of bolting out two fasteners, lifting the condenser, detaching the condenser lower bracket connection, then extracting it through the rear vehicle side. The screwdriver operates to displace both left and right side condenser upper and lower brackets after taping the screwdriver tip to ensure safety. Finally, remove the condenser. For new condenser installation users must apply 40 cc (1.4 fl. oz.) of compressor oil which must be RL-897 or a different equivalent.
