Q: How to remove the front shock absorber with coil spring on 2009 Toyota Sienna?
A: The procedure to remove the front shock absorber with coil spring begins by eliminating the front wheel. Begin by removing the front wiper arm head cap while following it with the right and left front wiper arms. The maintenance work begins by taking out the cowl top ventilator louver sub-assembly and windshield wiper motor & link assembly. Next disconnect the wire harness to remove the 9 bolts, cowl top brace and exterior front component of the cowl top panel sub-assembly. Detach the front stabilizer link assembly LH by uninstalling the nut from the shock absorber assembly front LH while holding the stud with a hexagon (6 mm) wrench if the ball joint rotates with the nut. The upcoming task requires slipping the lock nut on the front shock absorber with coil spring while maintaining the component intact. Begin by unbolting the front flexible hose No.1 using its bolt followed by taking off the 2 nuts and 2 bolts from the shock absorber's lower side and maintaining the nut while it prevents rotation. Use a hexagon (6 mm) wrench to hold the stud when using it with the nut. Then loosen the front shock absorber lock nut retaining the coil spring. Remove the front shock absorber with its coil spring by taking off the upper side 3 nuts.
