2009 Toyota RAV4 Brake Master Cylinder Parts Q&A
Q: How to remove and replace the brake master cylinder on 2009 Toyota RAV4?
A: The procedure for brake master cylinder replacement begins with positioning the cylinder tip below the horizontal axis to secure the piston inside while you remove foreign particles from it before applying lithium soap base glycol grease to its booster-contacting outer rim. The master cylinder replacement requires clearance of the air cleaner case sub-assembly when working with the 2AR-FE engine and the air cleaner case for the 2GR-FE engine. Follow the liquid drainage process by wiping off all fluid which touches painted areas. Repeat stopping the engine and repeatedly pressing the brake pedal to release brake booster vacuum. Detach the brake fluid level warning switch connector (labeled A) and unfasten the two brake lines (labeled B) from the master cylinder through the use of a 10 mm union nut wrench. Take out the master cylinder through the brake booster after removing its two nuts while keeping the piston in position. The O-ring should be taken out from the master cylinder.
