2009 Toyota Matrix Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to remove the Steering Angle Sensor on 2009 Toyota Matrix?
A: The first step to remove the Steering Angle Sensor is to disconnect the cable from the negative battery terminal while letting the SRS system disable for at least 90 seconds. Proceed by facing the front wheels at zero degrees before removing the steering wheel cover lower component of position 3 and then moving to the cover lower component of position 2. Afterward remove both the steering pad and steering wheel assembly from the vehicle. The first step is to eliminate the shift lever knob sub-assembly from both manual and automatic transaxles followed by the center instrument cluster finish panel sub-assembly removal. Move on to remove the center instrument cluster finish panel assembly and the front upper console box and the No. 2 switch base for both transmission configurations during the repair procedure. Remove the console box carpet as the next step before proceeding to remove the front console box assembly which applies to both 2WD and 4WD modes. The service technician should first remove the lower instrument panel finish panel assembly together with the glove compartment door assembly and front No. 1 and No. 2 console box inserts. Both transaxles need the lower center instrument panel finish panel removed with the addition of removal of the No. 1 switch hole base and the lower instrument panel finish panel sub-assembly. After removing the lower and upper steering column covers you should separate the spiral cable and steering angle sensor. After that you must disengage all 6 claws and 2 pins to take out the sensor.
