2009 Toyota Matrix Parts Questions & Experts Answers
Q: How to install the rear Crankshaft Seal and transaxle components on 2009 Toyota Matrix?
A: The installation process starts by smearing MP grease onto the lip of a new seal before using Special Service Tool: 09223-15030 09950-70010 with a hammer to push the seal inside until the surface reaches the rear oil seal retainer edge. During this step avoid tapping at any angle while keeping the lip clean from foreign matter. The installation procedure for the automatic transaxle requires users to first clean the 8 bolts and bolt holes before applying Toyota Genuine Adhesive 1344, Three Bond 1344, or an equivalent to 2 or 3 threads of the bolts using Special Service Tool: 09213-54015 91651-60855 while holding the crankshaft to properly align the pin with the crankshaft pin hole. The front drive plate and rear drive plate spacer must be mounted on the crankshaft before evenly torquing the specified bolt sequence to 98 Nm (999 kgf-cm, 72 ft-lbf). The manual transaxle requires cleanup of 8 bolts and their corresponding holes where Special Service Tool: 09213-54015 91651-60855 should be used to secure the crankshaft while applying adhesive to the last 2 or 3 threads of each bolt. Afterward, install the bolts uniformly until they reach a torque of 130 Nm (1326 kgf-cm, 96 ft-lbf). Fitting of the clutch disc assembly alongside the clutch cover assembly needs to be done for the manual transaxle but the automatic transaxle assembly requires installation steps specific to U250E or U140F. The manual transaxle assembly needs to be installed after completing all procedures.
