2009 Toyota Land Cruiser Parts Questions & Experts Answers
Q: How to remove the PARKING ASSIST DISTANCE SENSOR (for Rear) on 2009 Toyota Land Cruiser?
A: The PARK ASSIST / MONITORING: ULTRASONIC SENSOR (for Rear) requires removal through a series of steps beginning with the removal of the REAR QUARTER PANEL MUDGUARD LH and REAR QUARTER PANEL MUDGUARD RH followed by the REAR NO. 1 BUMPER PLATE and the REAR BUMPER COVER on before taking out the NO. 2 FRAME WIRE. The service starts by removing the REAR NO. 1 BUMPER PLATE followed by the REAR BUMPER COVER. Safer removal happens by first removing the NO. 2 FRAME WIRE. The NO. 2 ULTRASONIC SENSOR can be removed through finger force on the lever that activates one claw while you detach the opposite side claw until the sensor pops off. The top and bottom claws function differently from each other. The procedure for the NO. 3 ULTRASONIC SENSOR requires users to first detach the sensor clip before removing the sensor by dissembling its claw. The procedure for NO. 2 ULTRASONIC SENSOR RETAINER requires detachment of the 2 claws and then removal from the rear bumper cover. A similar process applies to the NO. 3 ULTRASONIC SENSOR RETAINER where claws need detachment for removal from the rear bumper cover.
