How to install the steering wheel on 2009 Toyota Highlander?

The installation of a steering wheel starts with setting the front wheels in a straight direction. Change the spiral cable if required. First install the steering wheel assembly by matching its indicator marks to the steering main shaft. After that, apply 50 Nm (510 kgf-cm, 37 ft-lbf) torque to the steering wheel assembly set nut while connecting all connectors to the spiral cable sub-assembly. Install the steering pad after which you should position the lower No. 3 steering wheel cover and then the lower No. 2 steering wheel cover. The process requires checking the steering wheel center alignment and negative battery terminal cable connection using at least a 2-second disconnected period when both front wheels maintain straight-ahead position. The cable requires an initialization process in certain systems following its reconnection. Complete a full inspection of the steering pad together with the SRS warning component.
