2009 Toyota FJ Cruiser Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to remove the Vapor Canister on 2009 Toyota FJ Cruiser?
A: The first step to remove the Evaporative Emission Control Canister is emptying the fuel system pressure from the system. The removal process must start with detaching the negative battery cable. Start the charcoal canister assembly removal by disconnecting the fuel tank breather tube from the fuel tank through deep insertion of its connector followed by portion A pinching and connector extraction. Start the process only after removing any foreign material from the fuel tank vent hose connector because the O-ring inside uses pressure to seal the pipe. Also avoid damaging the connector and its parts with foreign objects and scratches. Work on this task manually without tools and refrain from forcing movement to the nylon tube. Securely cover the fuel tank vent hose endpoint with vinyl material after you cut it loose. You must push and pull at the fuel vent connector along with its pipe to unstick them. The technician removes the No. 2 canister outlet hose sub-assembly by the same sequence before detaching the connector and EVAP hose. The charcoal canister assembly can be removed after unbolted with its three fasteners.
