2009 Toyota Corolla Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to remove the windshield glass on 2009 Toyota Corolla?
A: In order to disable the SRS system start by disconnecting the battery cable and waiting 90 seconds before proceeding. Detach the head cap from the front wiper arm and remove both front wiper arms and their blades on each side of the vehicle. Take all parts off the hood to cowl top seal including the center No. 1 cowl top ventilator louver and left plus right cowl top ventilator louvers. Take out the windshield front pillar decorations from both sides plus the map light unit with or without sliding roof and remove the visor assemblies including the front assist grip support system and No. 1 room light fixture. You will need to take away the visor holder and inner rear view mirror panel with possible EC mirror attachment. Lower the front roof headliner when needed to work on the windshield glass from the sunroof opening. Use caution when cutting the upper windshield outside moldings to protect the vehicle body and take off the rest of the moldings. Put protective tape on where the windshield glass sub-assembly needs to go then thread a piano wire from body to glass and affix wire ends to wood before cutting off adhesive using wire tension around glass circle. Mark the glass and body positions so you can safely remove the windshield glass after disconnecting stoppers and using suction cups for removal. Use a scraper to carefully remove the windshield outside moulding and its adhesive skin while protecting the glass before adding brand new parts. Pull off both No. 1 and No. 2 windshield glass stoppers and put in brand new ones while maintaining 2-piece type compatibility. Remove and replace any broken windshield glass stoppers, dams, and adhesive then apply a non-residue solvent to the outer edge areas. Complete vehicle preparation requires trimming off surplus adhesive then using a cleaner to prep the vehicle surface.
