2009 Toyota Corolla Blower Motor Parts Q&A

  • Q: How to Service and Repair a Blower Motor on 2009 Toyota Corolla?
A: Start the blower motor removal process by pointing the front wheels straight while waiting at least 90 seconds to disable the SRS system before disconnecting the negative cable from the battery. The cable removal process must start with activating the DEF-MODE air conditioning control switch. The refrigeration system requires refrigerant recollection before moving on to front wiper arm head cap removal and successive left and right front wiper arm and blade assemblies removal. The technician should detach the hood to cowl top seal and the center No. 1 cowl top ventilator louver and the left cowl top ventilator louver. The windshield wiper motor and link assembly can be removed after removing the outer cowl top panel (for TMC Made and except TMC Made). Perform disconnections on the suction pipe sub-assembly together with the air conditioning tube assembly as well as the heater outlet water hose and heater inlet water hose. The service begins by removing the lower instrument panel finish panels from both sides along with the instrument panel finish panel ends from both sides, the center instrument panel register assembly followed by the instrument cluster finish panel assembly, combination meter assembly and front pillar garnish on left and right sides with and without curtain shield Air Bag. Disassemble the lower instrument panel finish panel assembly followed by disconnecting front door opening trim Weather Strips (left and right) then take out glove compartment door assembly, No. 1 instrument panel box door sub-assembly, and upper instrument panel sub-assembly. The instrument panel wire assembly needs disconnection while the power steering ECU assembly (2ZR-FE and 2AZ-FE) and lower instrument panel finish panel sub-assembly and steering wheel assembly should be removed. The procedure includes removal of the lower and upper steering column covers together with turn signal switch assembly and spiral cable sub-assembly and instrument panel sub reinforcement. The service requires removal of the No. 3 air duct sub-assembly together with the transponder key amplifier (with Smart Key System) and stop light switch assembly and steering post assembly (for 2ZR-FE and 2AZ-FE). A complete instrument panel box assembly along with radio receiver with bracket (without navigation system), center instrument cluster finish panel sub-assembly (with navigation system) and shift lever knob sub-assemblies (for manual and automatic transaxle) and navigation receiver with bracket (with navigation system) must be removed. The procedure requires the instrument panel hole cover alongside the air conditioning panel assembly (for manual air conditioning system), air conditioning control assembly (for automatic air conditioning system), and several trim boards and scuff plates. Disconnect the console box assembly (which fits both manual and automatic transaxle systems) as well as lower instrument panel sub-assembly and smart key ECU assembly (with Smart Key System) and air ducts. Completely detach the blower assembly while taking care to disconnect the connector according to PTC heater presence and screw requirements.
