- Q: How to install the parking brake cable assembly No.3 on 2009 Toyota Avalon?A: Park the parking brake cable assembly No.3 by linking it to the parking brake equalizer then fastening it with the clip. The assembly must be mounted by bolts and a nut with a clamp while Bolt A requires 8.5 Nm torque (87 kgf-cm, 75 in-lbf) and Bolt B requires 6.0 Nm torque (61 kgf-cm, 53 in-lbf) and the nut needs 6.0 Nm torque (61 kgf-cm, 53 in-lbf). 2 bolts connect the assembly to the backing plate while reaching torque values of 8.0 Nm (82 kgf-cm, 71 in-lbf). The installation requires high-temperature grease and then the addition of the No. 2 parking brake shoe assembly after which the parking brake shoe adjusting screw set and the No. 1 parking brake shoe assembly should be installed. Check the parking brake installation protocol after you have placed the parking brake shoe strut and the parking brake shoe return tension No. 1 spring. Next install the rear disc before performing an adjustment of the parking brake shoe clearance. Fasten the rear disc brake caliper assembly LH together with the rear wheel by torquing them to 103 Nm (1,050 kgf-cm, 76 ft-lbf). Place the parking brake cable assembly No.4 before installing the console box assembly, console panel sub-assembly upper, console box upper and position indicator housing assembly and shift lever knob sub-assembly. Complete the process by modifying the parking brake pedal range of motion.
