2009 Toyota Avalon Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to replace the oil filter element on 2009 Toyota Avalon?
A: Before altering the 2GR-FE engine oil filter element start by protecting your skin from engine oil contact and by correctly disposing of wasted oil along with filters. Start the procedure by attaching a 15 mm hose to the pipe while simultaneously taking off the filter drain plug from the oil filter cap. Start by positioning a hose-tailed pipe into the oil filter cap with the O-ring placed on its outside surface while allowing the hose end to drop into an oil-capturing container before extracting the pipe and O-ring by rotating the pipe according to the arrow mark. Special Service Tool: 09228-06501 helps remove the oil filter cap then you should remove the oil filter element along with its O-ring while avoiding tool contact because it may damage the O-ring. Wash the oil filter cap interior along with its threads and O-ring groove before applying light engine oil to an installed new O-ring for placement on the oil filter cap. Use Special Service Tool: 09228-06501 to install the new oil filter cap and position the O-ring so it receives a light engine oil coat before tightening the parts to 25 Nm (255 kgf-cm, 18 ft-lbf) without allowing clearance between the elements. Use a torque of 13 Nm (127 kgf-cm, 10 ft-lbf) to install the oil filter drain plug while checking that the O-ring stays clear of the filter components and fill the engine with clean oil. Start the engine to look for leakages from the oil filter cap and drain plug connection area.
