- Q: How to remove the parking brake cable on 2008 Toyota Yaris?A: The first step to remove the parking brake cable requires both Sedan owners and Hatchback Manual Transaxle owners to perform different actions. Sedan owners must start by taking off the center lower instrument panel finish panel, while Hatchback owners need to remove the shift lever knob sub-assembly. You must take off the shifting hole cover sub-assembly of the Hatchback Manual Transaxle. You must first remove the Sedan upper console panel sub-assembly before you move on to eliminating the Hatchback rear console box cover. Begin by removing the Sedan rear upper console panel sub-assembly and then proceed to take off the console box carpet followed by the rear console box assembly. After the procedure remove all components that include the rear wheel alongside the rear brake drum sub-assembly. First separate the rear brake shoe kit and front No. 4 floor heat insulator from the system by removing its 2 nuts. The installation requires separating the parking brake cable end from the equalizer by first loosening the No. 1 wire adjusting nut. This allows removal of cable clamp A from the body while also taking out the 4 bolts. Apply pliers to pinch both sides of the claw on cable clamp B while flexing the clamp to detach it. After removing the bolt you will take out the parking brake cable from the backing plate and disconnect cable clamp B from the parking brake cable for replacement with a new clamp B during assembly.
