2008 Toyota Tacoma Wheel Hub Parts Q&A
Q: How to disassemble the front Wheel Hub on 2008 Toyota Tacoma?
A: The 2WD hub should be started using a screwdriver and hammer to remove the knuckle grease retainer cap through tapping. Use Special Service Tool: 09930-00010 with a hammer to unstake the lock nut portion before attaching three bolts to the hub bolt according to the illustration. Secure these bolts in a vice before using a 36 mm socket wrench and removing both the lock nut and spacer. Detach the steering knuckle by using Special Service Tool: 09710-30021 and 09710-03131 after removing the dust cover toward the hub side with the three bolts removed. A screwdriver can be used to pry the front axle hub oil seal from the steering knuckle located on the steering knuckle. The process requires snap ring pliers to remove the ring followed by using Special Service Tool: 09950-60020 and 09951-00710 to push the bearing from the steering knuckle.
