2008 Toyota Sienna Parts Questions & Experts Answers
Q: How to install the rear differential carrier assembly on 2008 Toyota Sienna?
A: Begin the rear differential carrier assembly installation process by screwing the No. 1 rear differential support with 2 bolts and 2 nuts that need a torque of 85 Nm (867 kgf-cm, 63 ft-lbf). Tighten the nuts while gripping the bolts. The rear differential dynamic damper must be fastened to the No. 1 rear differential support using 2 bolts which should be tightened to 20 Nm (204 kgf-cm, 15 ft-lbf). The rear differential support assembly needs installation onto the rear differential carrier assembly where three bolts require torquing to 100 Nm (1,020 kgf-cm, 74 ft-lbf). Connect the no. 1 rear differential support through a bolt and nut and tighten them to 95 Nm (969 kgf-cm, 70 ft-lbf) torque. Move forward with rear drive shaft assembly LH installation while keeping in mind that right-hand side installation follows the same steps. During installation of the rear axle shaft nut LH apply the same procedure that will be used for the RH side. The action for installing the rear speed sensor LH also requires the identical procedure for the RH side. Implement the propeller with center bearing shaft assembly properly tightening it for completion. The rear differential carrier assembly requires hypoid gear oil while the user inserts the drain plug with a new gasket using a 10 mm hexagon wrench which should be torqued to 49 Nm (500 kgf-cm, 36 ft-lbf). To install the rear differential filler plug implement a 10 mm hexagon wrench together with a new gasket while torqueing it to 49 Nm (500 kgf-cm, 36 ft-lbf). The exhaust pipe assembly should follow installation of the rear wheel which requires 103 Nm (1,050 kgf-cm 76 ft-lbf) torque. The technician should inspect exhaust gas leaks while performing a check and adjustment of rear wheel alignment along with testing the ABS speed sensor signal.
