2008 Toyota Sienna Differential Parts Q&A
Q: How to remove and replace the rear differential carrier assembly on 2008 Toyota Sienna?
A: The removal process of the rear differential carrier assembly begins by discarding the rear wheel first. Start by detaching the exhaust pipe assembly. The technician should remove the propeller with center bearing shaft assembly next. There are two steps to complete this sequence starting with the removal of the rear differential filler plug through the use of a 10 mm hexagon wrench and ending with removal of the rear differential drain plug through the use of the same 10 mm hexagon wrench. Drain all the oil afterward. Follow the steps to remove the LH rear speed sensor because the removal of the RH side has similar requirements. Remove the rear axle shaft nut LH through the same steps that will solve the RH side. The procedure for removing the rear drive shaft assembly LH follows the same method used for the RH side. A jack should support the rear differential carrier assembly before you separate the No. 1 rear differential support by removing its bolt and nut. Finish by taking out the two bolts from the rear differential support assembly while carefully preventing the rear differential carrier assembly from falling. When following this step you need to remove the rear differential support assembly by disassembling its 3 bolts. You should remove the 2 bolts which secure the rear differential dynamic damper to the No. 1 rear differential support. Union the No. 1 rear differential support by removing its 2 bolts and 2 nuts.
