2008 Toyota Sequoia Vapor Canister Parts Q&A

  • Q: How to remove the Vapor Canister on 2008 Toyota Sequoia?
A: Before working on the Evaporative Emission Control Canister you must disconnect the fuel tank vent hose sub-assembly by removing its retainer and unhooking the vent line hose without tools and cleaning around the connector and valve to check for dirt contamination until all O-rings are safe from damage and leaks occur. You must start by breaking the connection on the No. 1 charcoal canister outlet hose and subsequently disconnect the outlet hose with its connector and take out the three bolts that hold the charcoal canister assembly in place. The fuel tank vent hose sub-assembly needs to be pushed firmly toward the canister section and then pinched according to the illustration before pulling it out for inspection of foreign matter. To disconnect the No. 2 canister outlet hose sub-assembly you should push and pinch the hose toward the canister side and pull it out maintaining cleanliness to avoid damage. The procedure begins with unfastening the charcoal canister filter sub-assembly before separating the hose clamp from the outlet hose and removing both attaching bolts from the charcoal canister base bracket. After detaching the two bolts from the charcoal canister support bracket you must remove the No. 1 charcoal canister outlet hose and lastly the charcoal canister outlet hose.
