2008 Toyota Corolla Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to install the oil pump assembly and related components on 2008 Toyota Corolla?
A: The first step is to apply a new gasket onto the cylinder block. Users then must position the oil pump's drive rotor spline teeth with the crankshaft's large teeth before sliding the oil pump into place using five bolts torqued to 9.0 Nm (92 kgf-cm, 80 in-lbf). After that, install Chain vibration damper No.1 using the specified torque of 9.0 Nm (92 kgf-cm, 80 in-lbf). Proceed with installing the chain sub-assembly and chaining tensioner slipper together with crankshaft position sensor plate No.1 while adding the timing chain or belt cover oil seal and timing chain or belt cover sub-assembly. Afterward install the following components starting with chain tensioner assembly No.1 followed by crankshaft pulley, crankshaft position sensor and water pump assembly and both engine mounting bracket and V-ribbed belt tensioner assembly before finishing with cylinder head cover sub-assembly, ignition coil assembly, engine mounting insulator RH, generator assembly and vane pump assembly. Installation of the fan and generator V belt should be followed by the addition of engine coolant and engine oil and the battery negative terminal connection at 5.4 Nm (55 kgf-cm, 48 in-lbf). After oil and coolant inspection you will need to tighten the cylinder head cover No.2 engine under cover RH and front wheel RH with 100 Nm (1,050 kgf-cm, 76 ft-lbf).
