2008 Toyota Avalon Fuel Tank Parts Q&A

  • Q: How to remove the fuel tank on 2008 Toyota Avalon?
A: Discharging the fuel system pressure should be the first step before starting fuel tank removal. After battery cable removal from the negative terminal it is important to note that initialization processes may become necessary after reconnecting the system. First remove the rear floor service hole cover together with the rear seat cushion assembly. You need to separate the fuel pump tube sub-assembly before removing the fuel tank vent tube set plate combined with the fuel suction tube assembly including pump and gauge. Start by draining the fuel before proceeding to uninstall the exhaust pipe assembly center. Detach parking brake cable assembly No.2 and No.3 through removal of their set bolts combined with nuts. A total of 4 bolts need removal for disconnecting the fuel tank protector lower center. The fuel pump tube requires unclipping of retainer tabs followed by removing lock claws to detach it before lowering the fuel tank main tube in a clean environment. The removal of Fuel tube No. 1 requires pinching its connector until it comes out while keeping the connector area completely clean. The transmission jack should be placed under the fuel tank before removing the harness clamp to disconnect the fuel pipe. Then remove both fuel tank band bolts to free the fuel tank hose from the filter pipe by unclipping the hose clamp. Remove the fuel tank vent hose from the charcoal canister by inserting the connector deep to access the locking pin, pinching area A and extracting the connector. Conclude operations by removing the fuel tank followed by its pins and fuel tank bands before extracting the 4 clip nuts.
