2008 Toyota Avalon Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to install the fuel tank assembly and related components on 2008 Toyota Avalon?
A: Installation of the fuel tank assembly begins with first installing the clip nuts and afterwards fitting the fuel tank bands with pins before vent hose connection. After connecting the fuel tank inlet pipe with the fuel filter pipe clamp you should tighten the fuel tank bands' 2 set bolts to 39 Nm (400 kgf-cm, 29 ft-lbf). Connect the fuel tube No. 1 by inserting the connector into the pipe where "click" will sound if it remains undamaged by foreign objects. Finally check the connection attempt by trying to separate the pieces. Push the fuel pump tube connector until it clicks and verify the connection while also inspecting for any damage. Secure the fuel tank protector lower center into its place with 5.4 Nm tensile torque (55 kgf-cm or 48 in-lbf). Secure the parking brake cable assembly No. 3 followed by No. 2 by tightening appropriate bolts and nuts to 6.0 Nm (61 kgf-cm, 53 in-lbf) and 8.5 Nm (87 kgf-cm, 75 in-lbf). The customer should install the exhaust pipe assembly center along with the fuel suction tube assembly containing the pump and gauge and finally the fuel tank vent tube set plate. Place the fuel pump tube sub-assembly while filling the unit then clip the cable onto the negative battery terminal after which initialization processes may be necessary for specific systems. Exhaust gas and fuel leaks should be inspected before installing the rear floor service hole cover and rear seat cushion assembly.
