2008 Scion xD PCV Valve Parts Q&A

  • Q: How to remove the PCV Valve on 2008 Scion xD?
A: The first step to remove the Positive Crankcase Ventilation Valve requires draining the fuel system pressure. Begin by disconnecting the negative battery cable before you remove engine under panels from each sides and finally removing the battery terminal. To handle the job properly the technician drains the engine coolant before removing the No. 2 cylinder head cover. The air cleaner cap sub-assembly should be separated from the hose then engine wire harnesses should be separated. The first step is to remove the harness bracket before disconnecting both the No. 1 fuel vapor feed hose and the No. 1 vacuum transmitting hose. Unplug the vacuum hose while you also disconnect the fuel pipe clamp and separate the fuel tube sub-assembly. The technician should remove the fuel delivery pipe sub-assembly followed by the No. 1 delivery pipe spacer with the injector vibration insulator. Proceed to remove the starter assembly together with the oil cooler tube for Automatic Transaxle models then disconnect the transmission oil level gauge sub-assembly for Automatic Transaxle vehicles. First eliminate the engine oil dipstick before removing the intake manifold component. The process ends by disconnecting the ventilation hose followed by removal of the ventilation valve sub-assembly.
