• Q: How to remove the fuel injector on 2008 Scion xD?

  A: Before removing the fuel injector from the 2ZR-FE engine you need to discharge the fuel system pressure. Separation of the engine requires removal of the No. 2 cylinder head cover and the No. 2 ventilation hose. The engine wire harness requires removal of its 3 bolts along with harness clamp and 4 fuel injector connectors. Separate the 5 harness clamps before taking off the 2 brackets by extracting their attached bolts. Start by disconnecting the No. 1 fuel vapor feed hose and vacuum hose before using the fuel pipe clamp for removal. When disconnecting the fuel tube sub-assembly gently pinching the connector retainer while pulling the connector out needs to happen without allowing any debris to reach the connector or using tools on the nylon tube. You should place disconnected components into vinyl bags following the disconnect process. Push-pull movements are recommended to dislodge fuel tube connector and pipe resistance. Remove the fuel delivery pipe sub-assembly after unbolted the main bolt and the additional 2 bolts while extracting it along with the 4 fuel injectors without letting them fall. Take out the delivery pipe spacers numbered "No. 1" and the insulators found in positions "4" while pulling 4 fuel injectors from their place in the delivery pipe where you will put them into a plastic bag to avoid any possible contamination.
