2008 Scion xD Brake Booster Parts Q&A

  • Q: How to remove the Vacuum Brake Booster on 2008 Scion xD?
A: The first step to remove the Vacuum Brake Booster includes draining brake fluid while washing off all brake fluid from painted surfaces. Start by removing the front wiper arm head caps which leads to front wiper arm and blade assembly detachment of both left and right sides. Remove the hood followed by all elements associated with the cowl top seal and the cowl top ventilator louver sub-assembly and the left ventilator louver. Start removing the front wiper motor together with its link and also extract the front air shutter seal from the right-hand side and the outer cowl top panel. Start by taking out the battery and then proceed to eliminate the battery tray together with the battery carrier. User must disconnect the clutch reservoir tube when dealing with manual transaxle before removing the brake master cylinder sub-assembly. The brake actuator assembly removal process may involve both VSC components when recommended by the manufacturer. The No. 1 instrument panel under cover sub-assembly should be taken out first before removing the instrument panel under tray. To remove the brake booster assembly employ a union nut wrench on the brake tube to split the unit while a different wrench maintains the flexible hose. The brake master cylinder push rod clevis must be divided before beginning this step. Twist off the brake tube grommet followed by removing the brake tubes while using a wrench to stabilize the brake tube way. First remove the clip from the vacuum hose leading to check valve and then untighten the four assembly nuts for brake booster extraction while keeping brake tubes intact. To finish the brake booster assembly process remove both the gasket and unfasten the push rod lock nut to take away the push rod clevis. The process requires you to take out the vacuum check valve alongside the grommet from the brake booster assembly.
