2007 Toyota Yaris Alternator Parts Q&A

  • Q: How to remove and install the alternator on 2007 Toyota Yaris?
A: The alternator removal process begins with disconnecting the negative cable from the terminal and continues with removing the engine under cover to the right followed by removing the fan and generator belts. Next remove the generator assembly by initially removing the terminal cap followed by separating the connector from the harness clamp and unscrewing the nut from terminal B before taking out the fixing bolts to detach the fan belt adjusting slider. The last step to remove the generator is to detach fixing bolt B. When installing the generator first attach fixing bolt B then place the fan belt adjusting slider with fixing bolts A and B while guiding the generator toward the cylinder block until reaching a torque of 11 N.m (112 kgf.cm, 8.1 ft.lbf at bolt B). Following the connector and wire harness clamp installation you must install terminal B while tightening the nut to 9.8 N.m (100 kgf.cm, 7.2 ft.lbf) before adding the terminal cap. After fitting the fan and generator V belt you need to examine it before reinstalling the right-hand engine under cover and negative battery terminal cable installation with a torque setting of 5.4 N.m (55 kgf.cm, 48 in.lbf).
