2007 Toyota Tundra A/C Compressor Parts Q&A

  • Q: How to service the A/C Compressor and its magnetic clutch on 2007 Toyota Tundra?
A: As part of compressor and magnetic clutch service for the 1GR-FE engine begin with the removal of refrigerant from the refrigeration system then elimination of the fender apron mudguard seal LH by unclipping 6 seals and the seal. The fan and generator V belt removal procedure should start with disconnecting the discharge hose through bolt removal and cooler compressor discharge refrigerant hose removal before extracting the hose O-ring. You should use vinyl tape to cover the disconnected sections of the system thus blocking out possible moisture and external materials. You should perform this sequence again for suction hose operations by extracting the bolt and cooler refrigerant suction hose from the cooler compressor then taking out the O-ring. The vinyl tape must be used to seal all openings once more. Start the cooler compressor assembly removal process by disconnecting the connector then removing its two bolts and two nuts followed by the removal of two stud bolts and finally the complete cooler compressor. To install the compressor you must adjust its oil levels by releasing gases from the service valve and draining proper amounts from both new parts then use ND-OIL 8 or comparable oil products for this work. The cooler compressor assembly installation requires initial 2 stud bolts tightening at 10 N.m (102 kgf.cm, 7 ft.lbf) before proceeding to 2 bolts and 2 nuts at 24.5 N.m (250 kgf.cm, 18 ft.lbf). The bolt installation sequence must be followed during this process. Install the suction hose after removing vinyl tape by applying oil to the O-ring and fitting surface and inserting the O-ring before using a bolt tightened to 9.8 N.m (100 kgf.cm, 87 in.lbf). When affixing the discharge hose connect the bolt with the same torque value but first apply compressor oil to a new O-ring. To finish the installation install the fan V belt afterward and then attach the fender apron mudguard seal LH with the help of 6 clips. The refrigerant needs to be charged after engine warm-up and we should conduct a leak test for refrigerant gas.
