2007 Toyota Solara Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to service and repair the A/C Clutch on 2007 Toyota Solara?
A: Service and repair work can start on the 2AZ-FE compressor and magnetic clutch by first discharging the refrigerant from the system through Special Service Tool: 09249-63010 to remove the fan and generator V belt. The next step involves removing the alternator assembly with regulator while performing the disconnection of cooler refrigerant discharge hose No.1 by removing the nut followed by O-ring before sealing all openings with vinyl tape to avoid moisture intrusion and foreign matter. The same procedure should be followed to detach cooler refrigerant suction hose Number 1. The connector needs to be disconnected before removing the four bolts which fasten the compressor and magnetic clutch. Remove the bolt and bracket and place the compressor and magnetic clutch into a vise before using Special Service Tool: 95047-10400 to retain the magnet clutch hub during bolt and magnet clutch hub and magnet clutch washer removal. When using a snap ring expander to remove the snap ring and magnet clutch rotor make sure the seal cover of the bearing stays unharmed. Disconnect the connector a second time before you can remove both the snap ring and magnet clutch starter. Determine the correct order of installation and place the new magnet clutch starter first before fitting the new snap ring with its chamfered section upward to avoid seal cover damage. Continue the connector connection before installing a magnet clutch rotor with one more new snap ring that needs to be positioned with the chamfered side at the top. You must make sure the snap ring does not expand past 30.5 mm. Place the magnet clutch washer and hub before securing them with a bolt using 18 N.m (184 kgf.cm, 13 ft.lbf). Avoid placing any foreign objects or oil on the compressor shaft, bolt, or clutch hub. Fasten the compressor and magnetic clutch bolt before making complete bolt torques reach 25 N.m (250 kgf.cm, 18 ft.lbf) following precise bolt sequence numbers. In order to install cooler refrigerant suction hose No.1, remove the vinyl tape followed by application of compressor oil on the fitting area with a new O-ring and install the O-ring before securing the hose with a nut tightened to 9.8 N.m (100 kgf.cm, 87 in.lbf). Perform this method again to install cooler refrigerant discharge hose No.1. Conclude the installation process by using Special Service Tool: 09249-63010 to reposition the alternator assembly with regulator and fan and generator V belt while charging the refrigerant and allowing engine heating until leak inspection.
