2007 Toyota Sienna Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to remove and install the A/C Clutch in a refrigeration system on 2007 Toyota Sienna?
A: First step to remove the compressor and magnetic clutch entails recovering refrigerant from the refrigeration system before removing the front wheel RH and the front fender apron seal RH. The maintenance sequence begins with V-ribbed belt removal followed by separation of the radiator along with the fan assembly. You should disconnect the discharge hose sub-assembly by removing both the bolt with its O-ring through the opening and then seal it with vinyl tape to protect against moisture and foreign material entry. The same procedure should be performed on the sub-assembly of the suction hose. Start by disconnecting the connector before loosening both clamps and releasing the wire harness. The compressor and magnetic clutch will come off when you remove their 2 bolts and 2 nuts. The compressor and magnetic clutch removal requires using a "TORX" socket wrench (E8) to remove the 2 stud bolts while extracting these components. You can install the compressor and magnetic clutch together by using a "TORX" socket wrench (E8) to tighten the 2 stud bolts to 10 N.m (102 kgf.cm, 7.4 ft.lbf) then add the 2 bolts and 2 nuts and torquing them to 25 N.m (255 kgf.cm, 18 ft.lbf). Reattach the connector after linking the wire harness and clamps through each other. Install the suction hose sub-assembly by detaching the vinyl tape followed by application of compressor oil (ND-OIL 8 or equivalent) on the new O-ring and fitting surface before installing the O-ring and securing the hose with the bolt at 5.4 N.m (55 kgf.cm, 48 in.lbf). Follow the same procedure for the installation of the discharge hose sub-assembly. Radiator and fan components as well as V-ribbed belt and front fender apron seal right side then front wheel right side must be reinstalled. Conclude repairs by charging the system with refrigerator while warming the engine before examining for refrigerant leaks.
