2007 Toyota Prius Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to service the fuel injector on 2007 Toyota Prius?
A: The first step to service the fuel injector requires unpressurizing the fuel system by removing the integration relay (unit C: C/OPN relay) from the engine room junction block then starting the engine until it stops before powering off the switch. First secure the engine from starting while eliminating air from the fuel tank through the cap opening then separate the negative battery cable for at least 90 seconds with no Air Bag triggering. The next steps include reinstalling the integration relay followed by removing the windshield wiper motor while taking out its link. The front outer cowl top panel subassembly requires removal after disconnection of the No. 2 engine room relay block and 4 wire harness clamps and 7 bolts. Following brake fluid level switch disconnect and removing the two bolts the technician should remove the air cleaner assembly and brake master cylinder reservoir sub-assembly from the vehicle. The No. 2 fuel vapor feed hose requires disconnecting the clamp followed by the wire harness clamp so mechanics can remove 3 bolts which detach the reservoir bracket. Uninstall the cylinder head cover by detaching 4 fuel injector connectors, 4 ignition coil connectors, followed by 3 bolts, 4 ignition bolts, and finally nine cylinder head bolts and two seal washers and two nuts. Disconnect the fuel delivery pipe by pulling out the fuel tube connector following No. 1 fuel pipe clamp removal then remove 3 bolts to separate the pipe with its 4 fuel injectors. Keep the injectors from falling to the floor while carefully removing 2 No. 1 delivery pipe spacers and 4 insulators from the cylinder head. To install new O-rings with spindle oil or gasoline treatment either on the delivery pipe surface or the O-rings first and then position the fuel injectors before examining rotation quality. Install 4 new insulators and 2 No. 1 delivery pipe spacers, then install the fuel delivery pipe with the injectors, temporarily tighten 3 bolts, and ensure injectors rotate smoothly before retightening to specified torque: 19 N.m (194 kgf.cm, 14 ft.lbf) for bolt A and 9.0 N.m (92 kgf.cm, 80 in.lbf) for bolt B. Connect the fuel tube to the fuel delivery pipe, install the No. 1 fuel pipe clamp, and proceed to install the cylinder head cover sub-assembly, reservoir bracket, brake master cylinder reservoir sub-assembly, air cleaner assembly, and front outer cowl top panel subassembly, ensuring all bolts are tightened to specified torque values. Installation of windshield wiper components must be completed before reconnecting the negative terminal and checking for fuel leaks and performing system initialization depending on system requirements.
