2007 Toyota Matrix Wiper Motor Parts Q&A

  • Q: How to service the front wiper motor on 2007 Toyota Matrix?
A: The first step for servicing the front wiper motor involves removing the windshield wiper arm cover before taking out the right-hand side assembly of wiper arm and blade when the motor stops at automatic position through the removal of nuts. The procedure must also be completed for the assembly on the left side. The next step requires removal of the hood to cowl top seal by using a clip remover to separate the 8 clips before removing the right ventilator louver with clip disconnection and claw release followed by doing the same for the left side. Separate the connector before removing the windshield wiper motor assembly by uninstalling the 2 bolts and dragging the unit to the right until the rubber pin releases. Begin by using a screwdriver to separate the rod from the crank arm pivot then eliminate 2 torx bolts with a torx socket wrench for the windshield wiper motor assembly. During installation apply MP grease to the crank arm pivot followed by mounting the wiper motor assembly using 2 bolts tightened to 7.5 N.m (76 kgf.cm, 66 in.lbf) then secure the wiper motor and link assembly by pin insertion and bolting it with 2 bolts torqued to 5.5 N.m (56 kgf.cm, 49 in.lbf) before reconnecting the connector. You should reinstall the cowl top ventilator louvers on both sides while also installing the hood to cowl top seal. The procedure for installing front wiper arm and blade assemblies includes serrations cleaning followed by installing the left side assembly with the nut torqued to 21 N.m (214 kgf.cm, 15 ft.lbf) as the arm hinge is held in place. Then install the right side assembly with the same torque value. You should operate the wipers using water or fluid to check function while also checking for body interference before reinstalling the window wiper arm cover.
