2007 Toyota Land Cruiser Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to remove and install the windshield glass on 2007 Toyota Land Cruiser?
A: The first step for windshield glass removal includes disconnecting the negative battery cable until the system is inactive for at least 90 seconds to avoid activating the Air Bags. The initial step demands the removal of the assist grip sub-assembly through the extraction of its 8 plugs and 8 screws followed by removing the front pillar garnish and the front door opening trim Weather Strip. Then remove the visor assembly by taking out 2 caps and 4 screws and disconnecting 2 connectors while removing 2 visors which is followed by center visor assembly and visor holder. You can remove the overhead console box by taking out its bolt and disconnecting its connector then you must disconnect the inner rear view mirror assembly and slightly lower the roof headlining. The service requires removal of the front wiper arm head cap together with wiper arms and hood to cowl top seal and both cowl top ventilator louvers. The procedure for removing the No. 2 windshield moulding outside includes using a screwdriver and drilling out rivet heads before heating the moulding to 40-60 degrees Celsius (104-140 degrees Fahrenheit) for piano wire to cut the adhesive tape. The removal process of windshield glass requires inserting piano wire between body and glass before cutting the adhesive and retaining minimal adhesive on the body. The windshield glass along with the vehicle body surfaces need complete cleaning. Start the installation process by fixing new stoppers and adhesive dams on the glass and position the glass with suction cups while applying Primer M to the vehicle body and Primer G to the glass contact surface. Begin by applying Part No. 08850-00801 adhesive equivalent to the glass before slowly installing it onto the vehicle body while securing it with protective tapes until the adhesive completely hardens. Once the adhesive solidifies examine the glass for leaks before sealing them with auto glass sealer (Part No. 08833-00030 or equivalent). The vehicle requires windscreen moulding adhesive application for the installation area and accepts an inner upper moulding which must be installed with an air riveter featuring a No.4 nose piece. The correct reinstallation order includes cowl top ventilator louvers followed by the hood to cowl top seal, front wiper arm, inner rear view mirror assembly, roof headlining assembly, overhead console box, visor holder, center visor assembly, visor assembly, front door opening trim Weather Strip, front pillar garnish, and assist grip sub-assembly. After completion of the battery terminal connection to the negative post finish the system initialization sequences.
