2006 Toyota Land Cruiser Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to remove and install a windshield on 2006 Toyota Land Cruiser?
A: Unplug the battery in the vehicle minus terminal then wait for 90 seconds to stop Air Bag readiness. Disconnect the assist grip sub-assembly by pulling off 8 plugs and removing 8 screws before you can take out the front pillar garnish and front door opening trim Weather Strip. Separate the visor assembly from its housing through a complete removal of 4 screws, 2 connecting clips, 2 caps and 2 connectors. Unbolt the overhead console box and detach its connector to disassemble the inner rear view mirror assembly after removing its connector and releasing the holding screws. Lower the roof headliner in the front section to make the windshield easy to take out. Pull off the front wiper protection head cap before taking away both wiper arms and unfastening the hood to cowl closure and interior cowl ventilator flaps. Take a screwdriver to detach the No. 2 exterior windshield moulding then drill the rivet cautiously before heating the panel and cutting the tape with piano wire. Piano wire insertion between the body and glass enables easy adhesive cutting to retain excess adhesive on the body. Completely wash the windshield glass and vehicle body parts. Begin with sealing new glass stoppers and dams before set the glass on suction pads and putting primer on bare vehicle metal and basic adhesive on glass. Place the glass in its correct position according to matchmarks and fasten it with protective tape until the adhesive sets. Test for leaking spots and repair them using auto glass sealing product. Apply adhesive to the area where you will put the mouldings and use the air riveter to install the outer upper moulding and No. 2 moulding. To finish the repair replace cowl top ventilator louvers first, followed by hood to cowl top seal, front wiper arm, inner rear view mirror assembly, overhead console box, and then continue with the rest of the parts. Close with the negative battery cable reconnection then run system initializations.
