2007 Toyota Camry Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to service and repair the oil cooler on 2007 Toyota Camry?
A: Start engine oil cooler service and repair by unmounting the front wheel opening extension pads from right and left sides and then the engine under covers from both sides. You must start by draining engine coolant and engine oil before you can remove the oil filter sub-assembly and engine oil cooler by disconnecting the two oil cooler hoses and uninstalling the oil cooler union bolt as well as plate washer and nut while removing the oil cooler and O-ring. First check the condition of the engine oil cooler system including searching for damage and blockages before replacing it if needed. To install the oil cooler begin by cleaning the contact surface before using a new O-ring and then apply a light engine oil coat to both the threads and under the head of the oil cooler union bolt. Install the oil cooler while adding the plate washer then the oil cooler union bolt and nut, torque the union bolt to 79 Nm (800 kgf-cm, 58 ft. lbs.) and the nut to 9.0 Nm (92 kgf-cm, 80 inch lbs.). After connecting the two oil cooler hoses replace the oil filter sub-assembly and fill in engine oil and coolant before checking for any running fluid leaks. After checking the engine oil level the maintenance process ends with reinstalling engine under covers and both front wheel opening extension pads.
